“This Is Not A Drill”
A new musical
This Broadway-bound new musical is about the terrifying Hawaiian Missile Alert, based on true events experienced by conceptor Holly Doubet, and the unique and moving response of all those who lived through it. Warm hearted and funny, this touching story illuminates humanity at its best. Let’s propel this new musical to Broadway.

Fresh from a successful 5-week off Broadway World Premier at the York Theatre.
Based on true events that creator Holly Doubet experienced, THIS IS NOT A DRILL takes audiences inside the surreal chaos of a morning in 2018, in which countless Hawaii residents and visitors panicked upon receiving an early-morning alert on their phones warning, “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.”
As fear grips the islands, strangers and loved ones alike are forced to confront their mortality and their humanity. As they take a deeper and more meaningful assessment of their lives, it becomes clear what really matters.
Suspenseful, warmhearted, and funny, it is a truly compelling story of love, relationships, and human nature tested under unimaginable circumstances. Set to a soaring and heartfelt score, this powerful new musical tells the story of connection, compassion, and what is truly valuable when time stands still. The story reminds us how precious and truly fragile life is and to cherish every moment because THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
The book and musical score take you on an emotional journey you will never forget. This show pulls on the heartstrings, leaves you feeling grateful, uplifted, and part of something unexpected.
Following standing ovations and joyous celebrations at the 5-week off Broadway premiere at The York Theater in NYC, we are now excited to bring THIS IS NOT A DRILL to a new theater home.
Two songs from the show:
Tony & Chris, a gay couple from Cincinnati, celebrate arriving in Hawaii for a much needed vacation.
